Weekend Update Into December 20th – An Extremely Volatile Week

After a strong week last week, the markets experienced a very volatile 5 days with the FOMC events adding to the volatility. Moving into the second half of December, is a Santa rally on the horizon, or will the markets start pricing in Jerome Powell’s comments regarding interest rates and tapering?

This week, the $SPY ETF closed at $459.87 (-2.3%) after a very volatile week with the Fed news coming out on Wednesday.

This week the $QQQ ETF closed at $384.91 (-3.29%) which was a close almost exactly where the previous week opened.

This week the $IWM ETF closed at $215.14 (-2.16%) which was shockingly the lowest weekly percentage loss out of all three discussed in the blog.
