TrendSpider Software Update: Ichimoku Indicator Added; “Offset” Settings for Strategy Tester / MF-Alerts; “Offset” Added for Upper Indicators
At TrendSpider, we are constantly working on adding new, useful features to our platform as well as updating and improving the ones we currently have. In this blog post, we take a look at a crowd favorite, the addition of the Ichimoku Cloud indicator! Along with this indicator comes the ability to offset upper indicators and use new offset parameters in the Strategy Tester and Multi-Factor alert templates. Enjoy these new features and improvements!
Ichimoku Indicator Added
We are excited to announce the addition of this crowd favorite indicator, but along with this comes some unique functionality only available on TrendSpider. Use Ichimoku with MTFA, Backtesting, Raindrop charts to create a “Volume Weighted” Cloud, and as always set alerts on each level. Some examples are outlined below…
Ichimoku with MTFA
Overlay an Ichimoku Cloud from a longer-term timeframe. This is an example of the 4-hour candle with the daily Ichimoku overlaid on top.
Backtest Your Ichimoku Strategy
Backtest Ichimoku cloud action with our Strategy Tester! A list of popular strategies to test can be found here.
Volume-Weighted Ichimoku
While using our proprietary Raindrop(TM) charts, the Ichimoku cloud will become volume-weighted due to the first and second VWAP rather than open and close.
Set Alerts on Ichimoku Levels
Let TrendSpider’s automated alert system watch the chart for you and let you know when it’s time to get back to the screen.
New Settings For Strategy Tester and MF-alerts
You can now add “offset” parameters in the Multi-Factor alert or Strategy Tester templates. These conditions can be used in a variety of ways outlined in further detail in this blog post. We have also provided an example of an Ichimoku multi-factor alert in the templates manager.
Four New #Shared Alert Templates
Offsets can also be used to identify events that occur in a sequence. We’ve provided a few free alert setups to get you started. They can be viewed in your template manager under #sequenced.

“Offset” Added for Majority of Upper Indicators
Now users can add an offset parameter to most upper indicators. For example, offsetting the SMA (20) by candles as shown below.
