March 2026 delivered a landmark set of updates, headlined by real-time options data, a powerful new Sidekick Deep Research capability, and agentic indicator coding. Let’s dive into what’s new.
Quality of Life Updates
Alerts No Longer Require a Trigger Limit
- Alerts can now be created without specifying a trigger limit number.
- When no trigger limit is set, the alert stays active until its expiration date.
Trading Bots Renamed to Strategy Bots
- The “Trading Bots” label has been updated to “Strategy Bots” across the platform.
Purchase Additional Scheduled Scans
- Users who have reached the 3 scheduled scan limit can now purchase an add-on of +10 scheduled scans for $14/month.
Data Feeds Updates
Real-Time Options Data Is Now Inside TrendSpider
- TrendSpider now supports real-time US options data via OPRA (Options Price Reporting Authority), the consolidated feed covering the overwhelming majority of US options market volume.
- Options data is integrated across charting, watchlists, scanning, backtesting, Smart Checklists, alerts, symbol search, and more.
- Two new bottom panels are available: an Options Chain view and an Options Map, which displays any metric (Greeks, IV, OI, volume, and more) across all expirations and strikes as a heatmap.
- Options data is available as an add-on subscription. Note that OPRA requires data to be consumed from only one device at a time.

Sidekick AI Updates
Sidekick Deep Research
- Sidekick Deep Research is now live, bringing a new way to run multi-symbol research tasks at scale.
- Rather than analyzing multiple symbols within a single Sidekick conversation (which limits precision), Deep Research spawns separate parallel sub-chats, one per symbol, so each can work with full focus and full data access.
- Good use cases include analyzing SEC filings across a portfolio, scanning for common catalysts among stocks moving on volume, or researching a list of biotech names across news, earnings, and analyst data simultaneously.
- Deep Research is available on all Sidekick plans, including the free plan. Each session charges one message for the initiating request, plus one message per sub-chat that produces a response. Sidekick will ask you to confirm before starting any Deep Research session, including the expected message cost.
Sidekick Agentic Coding
- Sidekick can now develop custom indicators for you in an agentic, multi-step process.
- Rather than generating code in a single pass, Sidekick plans the indicator’s development across steps, executes each one, then analyzes the actual indicator output and logs before proceeding to the next step.
- This produces better results on non-trivial indicators, meaningfully compared to the one-shot Custom JS LLM generator.
Reasoning Messages Now Visible
- Chain-of-thought reasoning messages from Sidekick are now shown to users by default, displayed in a visually distinct style separate from normal responses.
- These messages give you insight into how the model arrived at a given answer or computed a number, which helps address cases where Sidekick might otherwise produce a figure without visible justification.
- Reasoning messages can be disabled in Sidekick settings. Disabling them is a visual-only change and has no effect on the model’s precision or output.

Sidekick Can Now Manage Watch List Membership
- Sidekick can now add tickers to watch lists and remove tickers from watch lists.
- Combined with Deep Research, this opens up a new class of automated workflows: initiate a large research task, walk away, and return to find results already sorted into watch lists based on your criteria.
Color Mark Support
- Sidekick can now read and assign color marks to tickers.
- This pairs well with the “Symbols marked {COLOR}” watch lists, which stay automatically in sync with whatever color marks have been assigned to your tickers.
{CURRENT_SYMBOL} Placeholder Now Supported
- You can now use
{CURRENT_SYMBOL}as a placeholder in pre-defined Sidekick queries or in regular messages, allowing those queries to automatically reference whichever symbol is active on your chart.
Distinct Icon for Sidekick vs. One-Shot AI
- Sidekick now has its own dedicated robot icon, visually separating it from the one-shot LLM functionality, which retains the “Ai” icon.
- This makes it easier to distinguish which mode you are using, particularly since one-shot LLM functions do not consume Sidekick messages while Sidekick does.
Improved Next Step Suggestions
- Sidekick is now better at recommending relevant follow-up actions after completing a task, such as creating related alerts, narrowing scan results, or taking action on research findings.
LLM and UI Updates
- Gemini has been updated to 3.1 Pro Preview. Previous model versions including Claude 3.7, Claude 4, and Gemini 2.5 have been removed.
- Sidekick’s color theme has been refreshed for improved readability.
- The Sidekick starting page now displays 6 prompt examples instead of 4.
- A number of known chat freeze cases have been resolved.
