TrendSpider continues to evolve with a series of updates aimed at improving the user experience, refining AI-powered tools, and introducing new features to streamline technical analysis. Below is a comprehensive breakdown of all the software updates that went live in February 2025.
Quality of Life Updates
Favorites & UI Enhancements
- Users can now mark strategies, scanners, and custom JS scripts as favorites.
- Indicators can now be favorited for quicker access within lists and the Visual Script Editor.
- The 52-week range lines in watchlists are now off by default but can be re-enabled via menu options.
- Most buttons and dropdowns now have mouse-over effects.
Watchlist Improvements
- New watchlist merge feature allows users to combine two lists with flexible filtering options.
- Supports both static watchlists and scanner-based lists.
- The max custom watchlist size has increased from 500 to 1,000 symbols.
Charting and Trend Detection
- Users can now drag left into empty space, dynamically loading candles for a smoother experience.
- Fixed overly noisy auto trends, resulting in cleaner trend detection.
- New Area Chart support added as an option in Line Chart settings.
- Improvements to the internal architecture of Custom JS computations.
Additional Enhancements
- The lower panel (Strategy Tester, Scanners, Indicators, and WHN) is now resizable.
- Bulk actions were expanded for color-tagged symbols, allowing them to be added to watchlists more efficiently.
Custom Scripting Updates
Improved Error Handling for Custom Scripts, AI Models & Bots
- Custom script errors now display exact error messages in the backtester and bot logs.
- Bots will automatically stop if the AI model used in the script is deleted, the custom script input for an AI model is removed, or a dependent custom script is deleted.
- Additional explanations have been added to clarify skipped bot checks due to script errors.
New Global Constant for Custom Scripts
- Introduced a new global constant: current.is_ext_hours.
- When extended hours are enabled, current.is_ext_hours will be true.
- Example usage:
describe_indicator(‘TSLA candles’, ‘lower’);
const tslaCandlesSynchronizedWithTheCurrentChart = await request.history(‘TSLA’, current.resolution, {ext_session: current.is_ext_hours});
Data Feeds Updates
New & Improved Market Data
- Added 47 new CBOE indexes, primarily focused on Russell lists (end of day data).
- 3,000 new crypto futures contracts added, including many calendar contracts.
- Standardized symbology for calendar contracts across exchanges.
- BYBIT SOLUSDT is now back and fully operational.
Locale-Based Number Formatting & Decimal Notation Options
- Numbers are now formatted based on the customer’s browser locale.
- Users can now switch from fractional to decimal notation for specific assets (e.g., Treasuries).
- You can enable this by opening the Chart Settings dialog (gear icon), navigating to the Data tab, and selecting “Preferred Futures Format” to set it to decimal.
AI Strategy Lab Updates
AI Model Enhancements
- AI models using indicators with long periods will now be calculated over the full data range for improved accuracy.
- The maximum backref depth is now limited to 700, and any input exceeding this (e.g., (C – C[800]) / C[800]) will trigger an error message.
Strategy Tester Updates
Heikin Ashi & Raindrop Backtesting Update
- Backtesting on Heikin Ashi and Raindrop charts now derives execution prices from real market data (OHLC values) while still using the respective chart type for trading decisions.
- Previously, entry prices were based on Heikin Ashi open values, but they now reflect the underlying Japanese candlestick open price for improved realism.
- As a result of this change, bots using affected strategies will be stopped automatically.
New ATR-Based Take Profit & Stop Loss
- Introduced × ATR(7) Take Profit / Stop Loss / Trailing Stop option in Strategy Tester.
- Example: Setting TP = 1×ATR(7) means take profit is placed at:
- ENTRY_PRICE + ATR(7), where ATR(7) is the value from the previous candle.
