August 2026 – What’s New at TrendSpider

August 2026 brought upgrades to dashboards, scheduled scans, Custom JS, and the Sidekick coding experience. Let’s dive into what’s new.

Quality of Life Updates

New Widgets in Dashboards

• Dashboards now support Options widgets, including both the chain and the heatmap.
• Dashboards also now support the Company KPIs widget, so you can track key company metrics alongside the rest of your layout.

Reports Widget Now Supports Any Fundamental Metric

• The Metric selector in the Reports widget has been overhauled. Previously, it only showed EPS and Revenue per quarter, along with their projections.
• You can now plot any fundamental metric available on the platform in this widget.
• You can also favorite the metrics you use most and search for metrics by name.

Major Update to Scheduled Scans

• Scheduled scans can now fire up to 3 times per day and run during market hours, with intervals down to 5 minutes from 30. This opens up a whole new range of possibilities, especially for intraday traders.
• For example, you can now set up an ORB breakout scan to send you opening range breakouts up to 3 times a day during market hours, something that wasn’t possible before. Check out our ORB scanners, indicators, and automated strategies for a ready-made way to try it.
• Scheduled scans now keep a history of what tickers were found and when, showing up to 30 recent launches. This history is available in both scan emails and JSON output.

Custom Scripting Updates

Structured Indicator Inputs in Custom JS

• Custom JS now supports structured indicator inputs, so you can organize an indicator’s properties dialog into tabs and groups instead of one long list.
• Use input.tab() to add a new tab and input.group() to add a group of related inputs within it, then declare your inputs inside them as usual.
• One thing to watch for: renaming a tab or group, or moving an input between tabs, groups, or the top level, resets that input back to its default value on any existing instances of the indicator.

Sidekick AI Updates

Smarter Agentic Coding

• Sidekick is now noticeably better at successfully completing complex coding tasks.
• It’s also better at communicating when a request isn’t possible on the platform, such as asking for a data type that doesn’t exist.

Better Collaboration With the Custom JS Coding Agent

• Sidekick now receives textual feedback from the Custom JS coding agent, not just a screenshot and logs. This lets Sidekick see when the coding agent has hit a platform limitation or had to take a shortcut.
• Sidekick now shares the last execution logs with the Custom JS coding agent when requesting edits or fixes, enabling basic log-based debugging to track down logical or mathematical errors.
