April 2026 brought updates across data feeds, Sidekick AI capabilities, and custom indicator workflows. Let’s dive into what’s new.
Data Feeds Updates
Expanded 13F Holdings Coverage
- TrendSpider now includes 6,800 lists of holdings from various entities, sourced from 13F filings.
- 13F filings reflect a delayed view of institutional holdings. Companies have a 45-day grace period to report holdings after a quarter ends, and most file 35 to 45 days after quarter close.
- Filing activity is heavily concentrated in certain windows. For example, February 15 to 17 typically sees an overwhelming volume of 13F submissions, while mid-January sees very little.
Sidekick AI Updates
Introducing Sidekick Deep Research
- Sidekick Deep Research addresses a core limitation of AI-driven multi-stock analysis: losing focus when covering many symbols at once.
- It works by spinning up a separate AI analyst for each symbol in parallel. Each analyst independently reviews a specific symbol, and then all outputs are combined into a single comprehensive result.
- For a full overview, see the Sidekick Deep Research announcement post.
Sidekick Can Now Create Watchlists
- Sidekick can now create new watchlists, in addition to its existing ability to edit them.
Symbol Search Now Available in Sidekick
- Sidekick can now run Symbol Search under the hood when responding to queries.
- This makes Sidekick more accurate when identifying specific securities. Previously, responses were based on the AI model’s training data, which could be outdated, incorrect, or reference symbols not supported on TrendSpider.
- With Symbol Search, results are pulled directly from TrendSpider’s data, ensuring responses are current and platform-compatible. For example, searching for ETFs that exclude U.S. exposure will now return accurate, supported results.
Introducing Sidekick Agentic Coding
- Sidekick Agentic Coding goes beyond writing indicator code by controlling the full development process inside TrendSpider.
- It opens the chart, runs the indicator, and evaluates the actual visual output against your request. If the result is off, it automatically identifies and fixes errors, iterating until the indicator behaves correctly.
- This is distinct from general coding tools that only check syntax. Sidekick evaluates the real rendered result, which makes it significantly more reliable for trading-specific builds.
- It is designed for complex, multi-step indicator builds using advanced AI models. The standard AI coding assistant remains available for simpler edits.
- For a full overview, see the Sidekick Agentic Coding announcement post.
Custom Scripting Updates
Custom Indicators Persist After Saving
- After saving a custom indicator and closing the bottom panel, the indicator now remains on the chart automatically.
- This matches the behavior of manually added indicators and removes the need to re-add the indicator after saving.
